My favourite and most meaningful additions to my record collection in 2024.
وحدن = Wahdon
Fairuz = Fairuz
One of my favorite Fairuz records with the killer tune Al Bosta. Saw it in the wild at the Den Bosch spring fair and had to get it - it's the original pressing in rare NM condition!

Bright Time
Ego-Wrappin'
Discovered this beautiful record while on holidays with my wife in Japan this summer. We spent 2 evenings in a small record bar in Ishigaki Island where the owner told us all about this band and played this record. I later searched all over Tokyo for the record and eventually found it. Really a gem with very valuable memories of our beautiful time in Okinawa.

A classic collector record, and this is a rare promo pressing in near-perfect condition. Found this in Den Bosch this fall.

This may have been one of my most surprising discoveries this year, a beautiful Egyptian cover of Tom's Diner - since buying it I played at literally every gig, and always get a lot of positive response and Shazaming :)

Sookie
Sookie Featuring Jeannine Otis
I've had this on my wantlist for years after hearing it at Thomas' office, so when he decided to put it up for sale I didn't hesitate to grab it.

Discovery = ディスカバリー
Daft Punk = Daft Punk
I have had this in collection for years but was missing vinyl 1. I spent big on this to get another imperfect copy missing the OBI but that include vinyl 1, to combine them and have a complete copy finally.

Be Thankful For What You Got
Lord Echo
Love this tune and was already excited to finally have it on vinyl on the Rarities compilation that was also released this year, but on top of that I found the super rare 7" pressing in Tokyo, containing 2 more versions! Love it.

Everybody's Dancing
Euro Funk
Found this in New York and to be honest bought it because of the weirdly interesting cover. The record is amazing though, what a tune! Can't wait to play this out on a next DJ set.

Stepfather
People Under The Stairs
One of their later and lesser known albums but found it in Tokyo and couldn't resist. Listening to it later I realized just how good this album is!

Mijn Zone
Opgezwolle & Duvel
This was the only missing record in my Opgezwolle collection (Dutch hiphop crew from the early to mid-2000's) and a friend of mine found a copy while cleaning his garage!

Occasional Rain
Terry Callier
Love this album, even though my copy is a bit beat-up. I found this in the bins of a very nice LA-based seller in the Den Bosch fall fair and because of the condition it was only $20, very happy with this.

Geto Boys
Classic hiphop album that I was still missing, found this og copy that includes the samples in the CAN shop in Copenhagen among some other heat, always an amazing place to discover and find seriously good music.

Take Me With You has to be the most surprising track ever. So groovy, so deep, amazing. The rest of the album is very so-so, but man, that last track! So happy to find an original copy this year at Human Head Records in Brooklyn.

This was still missing from my collection of retro gaming soundtracks, holding the classic Nintendo 8 bit tunes in original Japanese pressing. I imported this from Japan.

The Four Horsemen
Ultramagnetic MC's
Discovered this album on the road to Cafe de Duivel to DJ there with Simon, which was an amazing evening (non-stop classic hiphop!). I had to import the album from Japan but am glad I did.

Détends-Toi
Stella Zekri
This came recommended in a random used furniture shop in Brooklyn that also had a small record section in the back. So happy I took it though, full of great groovy, dreamy tunes. I would have never picked this up or seen this in an algorithm-playlist, but that is the beauty of in-person buying!

Another hiphop classic, I bought this in A1 Records in New York, does it get more classic than that?

Added this great compilation to my wantlist after hearing "Pablo Schneider – Amor En Llamas" on the radio in Copenhagen with Thomas years ago, never found a copy in the wild so when I saw this in Human Head I got it right away. Great compilation for discovery and further digging.

Kool & The Gang
An absolute classic in soul / funk and a foundational record for hiphop. Bought this on my first visit to Billy's Record Salon in Brooklyn, which may have also been my best record store discovery this year.
