I first saw Cope when he was lead singer of The Teardrop Explodes, supporting Joy Division in ’79. They stole the night for me. From that Liverpool post-punk scene, he went on to make bold, strange, powerful music. Peggy Suicide and Jehovahkill still stand above most 90s albums for me. Head Heritage is essential for his latest work.
