Formed in 1971 by Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger after leaving Kraftwerk, German band NEU! was a cornerstone of the krautrock movement. They pioneered the hypnotic, driving "motorik" beat, fusing minimalist rock with ambient soundscapes and industrial textures to heavily influence punk, post-rock, and electronica.
