Liner notes contain several errors:
- Tracks 1, 7 and 10 were recorded live at the Auditorio De La Reforma in Puebla, Mexico on Monday, September 23, 1968.
- Tracks 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13 were recorded live at The Palacio De Bellas Artes, Mexico City on Saturday, September 28, 1968.
- Parts of track 4 were recorded at each concert.
- Despite the claim that "Paul Gonsalves is the male vocalist featured on 'Happy Go Lucky Local'", he solos on tenor sax and does not sing.
- Portions of track 4 ("The Mexican Suite") are performed solo by Duke Ellington. Specifically, these are the movements called "Anticipation" and "The Sleeping Lady".

The music was used for the feature length film “The Mexican Suite”, produced by Gary Keys and released in 1972; some pieces appear also in the subsequent film “Memories Of The Duke”, released in 1980.
