Album recording began with the first sessions at Westlake Studios in Los Angeles with Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney recording "The Girl Is Mine" at 12:00 noon on Wednesday April 14, 1982 and concluded witht the last day of mixing the album on Monday November 8, 1982.
Originally mastered on Thursday, November 11, 1982.

The original album was released Tuesday, November 30, 1982 by Epic Records (38112).
