Jimmy Woode was late to the session, so Quentin Jackson played bass during Duael Fuel while Clark Terry covered his trombone part on flugelhorn. A call was placed to Joe Benjamin, who played bass on the first movement of "Idiom '59", which allowed Jackson and Terry to return to trombone and trumpet, respectively. Woode showed up to the session after that take and assumed bass playing duties for the rest of the session.
